Cabin Themed Party
This week I threw Sam a Cabin themed party for his 8th birthday. Our Lake Cabin has been his favorite place on earth ever since three years ago when we got it and I knew he’d ask to have his party there without hesitation. My only hesitation? It’s a weather dependent party and I needed to make sure we had things to do that weren’t solely outdoor activities. But the weather turned out to be absolutely beautiful and the party went off without a hitch. Check out what we did.
First of all I am obsessed with buffalo plaid. Buffalo plaid and cabins go together like campfires and s'mores. And Sam really likes that Disney show Bunked, so I made him this "Camp Sam" sign with the logo inspired from the show. I got the cute buffalo plaid posterboard from Hobby Lobby and then I found free printables off of Pinterest for the lettering, and just simple clipart for the images.
I had way too much fun putting buffalo plaid everywhere. I found this cute buffalo plaid table liner, adorable garland which I will most likely reuse somewhere in the cabin, plus the happy birthday sign.
I made this super fun lake water punch out of blue Kool-Aid mixed with a little bit a lemonade. It was funny because one boy actually took a drink and told me that it didn’t taste much like the lakewater at his cabin. For the rest of the food I served hotdogs, potato salad, summer-fresh strawberries, and chips to stick with the theme of camp-style food.
For the favors I put together these cute little "S'mores To-Go" baggies which the kids just absolutely loved! Seriously, what kid doesn't love marshmallows?
And lastly, to top it all off we ended the party with this fun little ice cream cake that Sam's big sister and I made together out of ice-cream sandwiches, Oreo cookies, and vanilla ice cream.
Kid parties are usually bonkers and hectic, but this one really seemed to go smoothly, and Sam gave me the biggest thanks at the end of the day and told me it was his "funnest birthday party ever" which makes all the work and effort worth it to me!

And then for the activities, we did traditional camp games like tag and capture the flag, and then we spent the rest of the time in the lake swimming and tubing behind the fishing boat!
