The Prettiest Summer Wedding Color Palette at The Atrium in Wisconsin
It's been two days since I last kissed my husband. Our lives are in such a crazy chaotic state that we barely have time to even talk to each other lately. Sometimes if our family is all in the car on our way to go somewhere, my husband and I will take the long way just so that we have a moment to sit still and catch up. We thought our lives were busy as parents of two, but now add the baby into the mix....see ya later relationship. It was nice knowing ya! Back when Andy and I were dating, one of our favorite things to do was to go to the grocery store, buy $100 worth of olives, nuts and cheese, and stay up late & cuddle under a blanket, sip wine, and feed each other food off our charcuterie plate. Wow! It seems crazy to even write those words out. Nowadays we high five each other if we happen cross paths while we're chasing kids around. I don't even have time to shave my legs much less focus on a romantic relationship with my husband. Which is why the offer from LaCoursiere Photography for Andy and I to do a stylized wedding photo shoot couldn't have come at a better time. Stacy LaCoursiere is the photographer who did our wedding a whopping ten years ago when she was just starting out her photography business. So when she reached out to us with her idea, we were thrilled. The shoot took place on a busy week day, & while the big kids were in school, we had Grandma come stay with the baby, and Andy snuck out of the office, and we ran away and got married....again. At first it felt strange putting on a wedding dress again, but once I did and once I saw Andy in his tux, all the emotions and feelings came flooding back to me. A young bride who was so excited. Who didn't have a care in the world except to marry Andy. A girl without a penny to her name who was just as happy in the clearance wedding dress as she would have been in a designer one so she put it on lay-a-way and came down to the dress shop after her waitressing shifts to pay it off little by little. I was so young. So care-free. So happy. So excited. For this. For what I am doing now. For a life with Andy where we'd have kids and a house and build a family together. For this. Sometimes all your life needs is a little perspective. And this perspective came at the perfect time. Here we are ten years later drowning in the swamp of parenthood so much that our marriage doesn't even have a chance to breath. Are we swamped? Or are we blessed? Perspective. Am I crabby that I'm so thick into motherhood that I don't even know what's happening in pop culture outside of Sesame Street? Or am I grateful? Perspective. This year, in honor of our ten year anniversary, I have decided to flip my perspective. To lift myself up by my tail feather and remember to not let life bog down this beautiful thing that I was so excited to have. I can't let that excited bride down who was so eager for this ten years ago. She's still in there. So what if she hasn't slept through the night in nine years, life will still be there on the other side of this parenthood business, but it's up to me...up to us, to make sure our marriage will still be there too. So guess what all of this inspired us to do? DITCH TOWN! That's right! We're outta here! We got home from our photoshoot, went online and booked a mini getaway for just the two of us to go to New Orleans at the end of summer for a romantic weekend of jazz music, sight-seeing, and lots and lots of charcuterie plates (and plenty of kissing too!).
And now for the fun part: our Stylized Wedding photos! These, to me, are the very most perfect summer wedding colors on earth: grapefruit, sage, and cream. Pinks and oranges and greens and big old fashioned dollops of cream that are set in such a shockingly lovely way against the simplicity of The Atrium in Wisconsin. With a design by Lace & Brass Events, crazy beautiful florals from Saffron & Grey, the most whimsical dress from Bella Rose Bridal, a stunning cake from Harbor House Sweets, and imagery by LaCoursiere & Co, this is one of those shoots that just might influence every last detail of any bride-to-be's big day.
