Big Bouncy Waves Tutorial
I love Saturdays. Saturdays are my favorite. Back before I had kids I used to love Saturdays for way different reasons than I do now. I loved them because Saturdays meant sleeping in...waking up at my leisure...brunching with my friends...catching a yoga sculpt class...maybe do some shopping...you know, actually enjoy one of my two days off. Now that I'm elbows deep in motherhood I look forward to two and only two things on Saturdays: 1.) The opportunity to actually pee alone & 2.) A Shower. My husband knows that Saturday mornings he is on kid duty and I don't care what they do as long as I get my nice hot shower. Unlimited access to screen time? Sure. Candy for breakfast? Whatever. Re-paint the living room with vanilla pudding? Fine! As long as I get my sweet and steamy, uninterrupted shower, and that includes getting ready afterwards. This means that Saturdays are the one day a week I can count on having a good hair day. Monday-Friday my hair is top-knot city, but on Saturdays: move over Beyonce, Mama's doing her hair! So today I'm going to show you how to get your own signature Saturday hair.
Supplies:
Now take that Saturday hair somewhere to show it off! To really treat yourself I recommend a nice long Target stroll with a Starbucks in hand. Happy Saturday đź’‹
Supplies:
Hair Dryer
Curling Iron
Hair Clip
Fine Tooth Comb
Hair Primer
Step One:
Prime your hair. Using a heat protectant spray (I love Bumble and Bumble Bb. Invisible Oil Primer). Spray on midsection and work your way down.
Step Two:
Blow dry your hair in opposite directions of where you want your hair to actually lay. I always blow dry my hair combed all to one side, and then to the other to get maximized volume at the roots.
Step Three:
Using your hair clip, section your hair in half pinning the top part up and off your face.
Step Four:
Using big sections, curl your hair away from your face in a upright spiral motion. Hold your hair in the iron for at least 5 seconds, and then let rest. Repeat on other side, and then again on each side with the top section of your hair.
Step Five:
Curl your "bangs". Now I don't actually have bangs, I have face-framing layers, but for this step you gather the hair in the top section and curl it all under like you did when you were a school girl in the 90s and wanted to have bangs like DJ Tanner.
Step Six:
Gather the hair at the crown of your head and back comb (aka tease) your hair to create volume.
Step Seven:
Using your fingers, tousle your hair, and boom! You're done!
