I grew up eating cereal like it was nobody's business and I loved it. But now that I'm older I recognize how much darn sugar is packed into cereal these days. My kids are super upset with me this week because I declared our family to be making some sugar consumption changes and the first thing I'm starting with is cereal. Breakfast should be a meal that starts your day by nourishing your body. Not a time to be filling up on treats, which is exactly what a bowl of Frosted Flakes is. Breakfast should not be a meal of carbs + sugar. By making homemade cereal I can control the portions, the toppings, the sugar, and the healthy additions like flax or chia seeds!

Here's a look at all of your ingredients. You can make this as healthy as you'd like by adding fresh or dried fruits and any other nuts or seeds you'd prefer. I like to add chia and flaxseeds to really pump up the health factor. |
Start by adding all ingredients to a large bowl. |
Mix together. |
Beat egg white until fluffy. You'll really need to whip it. Whip it good. |
Add oil. For this you can use olive oil, butter, or any other oil you may like. I'm still doing keto so I opted for coconut oil. |
Bake at 425 degrees for 25 minutes, let cool, and boom! You're ready to enjoy your homemade granola. |
