Quick & Easy DIY Herb Garden
I have a confession. I love shopping more than the average human. I'm not sure if this is normal or not but sometimes I have dreams where I'm shopping and so happy because of all the good deals I've found. I’ve met people before who hate shopping, but I’m the total opposite. I love shopping. Shopping is my favorite. Which is why I was as giddy as a golden retriever in a ball pit when I found super cute vintage wood pallet boxes at a garage sale. Because shopping makes me even more happy when I find super cute vintage stuff that costs next to nothing. When I first saw these cute boxes, I knew exactly what I wanted to use them for: planting a mini little herb garden. I love to make fresh bruschetta and salsa in the summer, so when my son brought home a tomato plant yesterday that he started growing in school, I decided to plant a little garden around it. And what better of a place to plant all my ingredients than in these adorable boxes?! And guess what? It took me less than twenty minutes. Follow my easy steps below to make your own sweet & simple herb garden.
1. Choose the plants you want to grow. Since I want to use mine for bruschetta & salsa, I chose basil, parsley, rosemary, and cilantro; plus the tomato plant from my son.
2. Determine the best place for your garden. For me this was my front upper deck since it gets the most sun. You’re going to want your plants to be exposed to at least six hours of sunlight per day.
3. Plant your herbs. It’s certainly less expensive to start your herbs from seeds, but for times sake I bought mine already sprouted from the greenhouse. You'll want to space your plants out good because they will grow and spread.
4. Water your plants. I like to water mine right away in the morning when the soil is most dry and before the sun warms them up, and let's face it...I'm always up early, because, Motherhood!
And there you have it! Enjoy! What other cute things do you like to plant herbs in? Leave me your ideas in my comments section below. đź’‹
