Cute & Easy Teacher Appreciation Gift
I used to be a little 'B' when I was in elementary school. I was the kind of girl (...and maybe still am) that hated being told what to do. I believed that I was some superior human being who was born with the natural ability to just automatically know everything, and whenever a grown-up told me what to do...well it made me mad. And you guessed it, I did the exact opposite. You know why? BECAUSE KIDS ARE HORRIBLE, that's why! And I know many of you hear me say that and think to yourself "well not my sweet little angel, my child would never be horrible!" Because I sometimes feel inclined to say the same about my children. But lets be honest, sister! Our children are horrible too! And it's not because we as parents are doing a bad job. And it's not because our kids are bad people. It's because children are highly illogical, extremely immature, overly emotional human beings. Period. There's not one child on the planet who isn't. And this is exactly why there is not a single gift on the planet that is sufficient enough for me to show my gratitude to my children's teachers this week for Teacher Appreciation week. (*full disclosure: I actually really love kids I swear to God....I even went to school to be a teacher. I love, love, love fostering the development of cute tiny humans, but at the same time I can be real about how difficult they are!) Teachers not only take my extremely dramatic, overly sensitive, stubborn and short tempered kids, but they take everyone else's too. And they actually choose to do this. That's the work of sainthood right there. I'll never forget the first year my daughter went to preschool, and teacher appreciation week came around and out of pure remorse for my daughter's poor teacher, I bought her a gift card to the spa for teacher appreciation week. Because that teacher deserved it! Heck, she deserved a round trip to go stay at a spa in the Swiss Alps by herself where no one else speaks English and a large lady named Helga guides her through a silent retreat and holistic healing. All teachers deserve it! But now after five years of being in the school system with two children I quickly learned that spa days aren't the best gift to keep coming up with as far as my wallet is concerned. Thus I've learned to come up with simpler, more economical ways to show our appreciation to those wonderful, over-worked, under-paid angels. Follow the easy steps below to show your child's teacher your gratitude with a sweet treat!
1. Get yourself a mason jar...because mason jars make everything instantly cuter.
2. Bake yourself your favorite cookies (we used this recipe). Under this circumstance, I had my daughter bake the cookies herself. Her teacher, her gift.
3. Fill the jar with your cookies and finish it off with some cute twine and a sweet looking thank you card. I got mine off of Amazon of course because why would I ever leave my house for something again thanks to Amazon?! (You can find them here.)
